This forum will discuss the outlook of “New Space”, which is the term generally refer to the shifting of space related technologies and their applications from government of developed countries, to be more involved and related to private sectors and developing countries.
In the past the space technology access, development, application of space-based services and their activities were mainly used by the government, military and developed countries. Nowadays, with the development of the space technologies and the enhanced digital evolution, the space-based applications start shifting down to the private sectors with their commercialization participation that has made much more use and developed for public and private and this so becomes and calls the “New Space”.
This topic discusses about space technologies that are now becoming more involved with our lives providing its positive impact to people and also to the business sectors. In the developing countries, space technologies and their applications have become increasingly part of development assistance to people, providing both communication and information infrastructures for present and the future e.g. telecommunication, IOT, transport, climate, agriculture, fishery, ship routing, mining and etc.
The main space technologies that will be discussed include the enhanced communication satellite systems, Earth observation and small IOT satellites with big data analytic system as these systems become now the world’s main space technologies and they are within the scope that Thailand can develop and participate.
